The two strangers stared cautiously and one of them spoke. "Shar eisi cestal pyl ail sor vali?" Chess cocked her head back and a puzzled look grew on her face. She stared at her friend in body language, "What kind of language is that?!" Cher looked closely at the strangers and felt something nostalgic growing at the back of her mind. She saw the one who spoke with exotic eyes of Arabian and silvery hair, but appeared so young. Then something struck her. "They're elves! Chess, they're elves!" Chess gaped in disbelief and impulsively walked up to the strangers and leaned forward. She saw the pointed ears and a strange choice of natural hair and back away slowly. "See? See??" Cher said exitedly and Chess crossed her arms. "You said you speak elven, so..." Chess scoffed incredulously. Arching her brows, Cher stepped up and spokle.
"Ai't Taes eil sor air tia thol, Taer," she started, "Eil shi col os thaer thys si mesali. Shor o caer iar kaer or ais o tal?" "Have no clue what you said, but you asked them if we can get out, right?" Chess asked and Cher nodded. The two elves gazed at each other again and one of the remarked, "Rni mar caer o moli o'vi cestal." cher smiled and nudged her friend, assuring her of agreement. "Sal o, sher shar eisi os bastaer?" Cher asked. Chess was not interested in elven language. She'd often had no sense of believing in magic at her age, but the life of a hero or princess gleamed to thought. "Uruvvion." Chess was really impatient when it comes for asking directions. "What are you asking now? Are they helping us?" "Yeah, I was just asking their names. This is Uruvion and..." "Adan."
They created a chain with their hands clenching each other's. In the chain Uruvion held Cher's. It was a strange feeling arousing Cher. She'd never held an elf's hand, but was more tempted to grasp one's ears. "Pai o mael Aelor?" Cher asked in hopes that he does. Uruvion snickers and answered, "Yes." Chess nearly jumped back at what she had heard. Elves speak English?! "We have to if we manage to meet a human. They maybe dumbfounded of our language, but we can't be the same. " Adan added. "Then you guys know magic, too?" Cher said excitedly. The elves nodded.
The night air finally reached their nostrils and Chess exhaled as if she drowned for hours. Orbs of light began to flash in the distance and moved and zipped closer to the group. The bits of light hummed and sang and made a trail of glitter behind them, touching flowers, weeds, trees, branches, anything in nature they'd tap on. They moved and circled in a rhythm like dancers. The sight of them set even Chess in a gaze, but not just that. That stars above them were clustered and many more constellations can be seen, but as did nebulas and protostars. One of girls could swear there was a planet in a close, yet far distance. The moon was not just a flat white disk, but more of a glazed sphere beyond the stars.
Cher and Chess' eyes widened but also watered in worry. They could cry at a sight this unimaginable, but as they learned if they can see this much of the night sky, then they are VERY far away from the city; not the park, even. "Chess, these are faeries!" Cher exclaimed and wiped her tears. Chess felt a lump in her throat and tried as hard as Cher to hide it. There was no way to hide it; they were both amazed, awed, and scared inside. "We should hurry to the village," Adan rushed, "If not, monsters and Creatures of the Dark will find us." "Oh," Cher said in realization. With a forest full of faeries and elves wandering about, there's bound to be dark creatures and wicked beings.
Walking through the forest was not that bad, but not as long either. There was animals and birds calling and sounding. That was not a scare until Cher felt something cold scratch at her palm. "Ack!" she yelped and quickly turned around to find a strange leaf creature sharpen itself for the next assault. Instantly, it wilted and water spouted from it. Cher noticed the flash of light that appeared and a circle surrounding it before it died. Magic...
"Sorry," Cher apologized. "It was just a pipsqueak, anyhow," Uruvvion spat with rudeness. "Thnaks..." "Don't mention it, either." "You two seem to get along," Chess interrupted. Cher blushed and walked ahead, not turning back. Chess giggled at her shyness and walked along.
